Washington Spirit players living at Rockville retirement community

When Robyn Gayle and Diana Matheson, teammates on the Washington Spirit pro soccer team, learned where they would live this summer, they thought someone was playing a prank.

Ingleside at King Farm did offer a furnished two-bedroom unit with granite countertops, 21 / 2 bathrooms, dual balconies and walk-in closets as large as some of their previous living quarters. It also had underground parking, an indoor pool and a fitness center. But the amenities also included water aerobics, bridge lessons and afternoon lectures such as “Politics of Aging: Medicare and Social Security.”

National Prayer Day

Ingleside at King Farm (IKF), while it finds its roots in the Presbyterian Church, is a fascinating melting pot of cultures, traditions, and faiths. IKF Chaplain Richard Thayer enjoys hearing the stories and learning about the diverse religious beliefs of IKF members, and sharing his own spiritual journey.

At this time in history, when religious and political strife wants to tear people apart, the need to seek understanding and unity could not be greater. Ingleside at King Farm, because of its wonderful diversity, and the hard earned wisdom of its members, can be a place of such healing.
